E-signature pricing compared, by cost per envelope.
The price per seat is only half the story. Most per-seat e-signature plans cap how many documents each user can send in a year, so the number that matters is the cost per envelope at your volume. Here is how leading per-seat plans compare with EaseSignature.
The catch with per-seat limits
Leading per-seat plans include about 100 to 150 envelopes per user per year. When your team passes that number, you buy more seats, even if the extra people never log in. EaseSignature Business has no envelope cap: it is $25 a month for the first user and $20 for each additional user, so you add a seat only when you add a person who sends. Sending 2,400 documents a year takes one EaseSignature seat, against 24 seats on a typical $30 per-seat plan.
The comparison at 2,400 documents a year
| At 2,400 documents a year | Typical per-seat plan | Premium per-seat plan | Mid-range per-seat plan | Budget per-seat plan | EaseSignature |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Price per user, per month | $30.00 | $45.00 | $16.99 to $29.99 | $8.00 | $25, then $20 per additional user |
| Envelopes per user, per year | About 100 | About 100 | Up to 150 | About 100 | Unlimited |
| Cost per envelope | $3.60 | $5.40 | $1.36 to $2.40 | $0.96 | $0.13 |
| Seats needed for 2,400 documents a year | 24 | 24 | 16 | 24 | 1 |
| Yearly cost for 2,400 documents | $8,640 | $12,960 | $3,262 to $5,758 | $2,304 | $300 |
Other plans are published list prices with annual billing from leading e-signature providers that charge per user and cap envelopes per user, gathered in July and August 2026 from vendor pricing pages and third-party summaries. They change often. Not every provider caps envelopes, so compare the terms for your own volume. Seat counts assume you buy seats only to cover document volume. Features, integrations, support and other terms differ between plans, so compare those as well as price. If anything is out of date, tell us and we will correct it.
What it costs at your volume
This is the yearly cost if you buy seats only to cover document volume, comparing a typical $30 per-seat plan with about 100 envelopes per user a year against EaseSignature Business.
| Documents per year | Typical per-seat plan | EaseSignature | You save |
|---|---|---|---|
| 300 documents | 3 seats, $1,080 | 1 seat, $300 | 72% |
| 1,000 documents | 10 seats, $3,600 | 1 seat, $300 | 92% |
| 3,000 documents | 30 seats, $10,800 | 1 seat, $300 | 97% |
| 9,000 documents | 90 seats, $32,400 | 1 seat, $300 | 99% |
If several people send documents, each sender needs a seat on either service, so count the number of senders as well as the volume. On EaseSignature Business each additional sender is $20 a month. The savings calculator works it out for your own numbers.
How to work out your own cost
- Count how many documents you send in a year.
- Divide by the yearly limit per user to see how many seats you need (rounding up). Also make sure every person who sends documents has a seat.
- Multiply the seats by the price per user, by 12 months.
- Divide by the number of documents to get your cost per envelope.
For example, 3,000 documents a year on a typical $30 per-seat plan with about 100 envelopes per user needs 30 seats at $360 a year each, which is $10,800, or $3.60 per envelope. On EaseSignature Business there is no envelope limit, so one sender needs one seat at $300 a year, or $0.10 per envelope. A team of three senders is $780 a year, whatever they send.
When another plan may cost less
A budget per-seat plan at $8 a month can cost less than EaseSignature Business if you send fewer than roughly 312 documents a year (our Personal plans start at $10 a month for 30 envelopes a month). Above that, extra envelopes add up: at 2,400 documents a year, one budget seat plus extra envelopes at about $0.96 each comes to about $2,304, against $300 for one EaseSignature Business seat. Some providers also sell plans without an envelope cap, and large products offer integrations, identity-verification options and compliance certifications that we don't list here. Check the terms that matter to you, and ask us if you are not sure we cover them.
Questions to ask any e-signature vendor
- How many documents does each user get per year, and is the limit shared across the account?
- What happens when you go over: extra seats, extra per-envelope fees, or a forced upgrade?
- Is the listed price for annual or monthly billing?
- Are the features you need, such as templates, reminders and audit trails, in the plan you are pricing?
- Can you try it with your own documents before you commit?
What you get with EaseSignature
- Sign in securely, then send from a reusable template: pick the template, add a name and email, and send. Templates are unlimited on every plan.
- The recipient opens a secure link, reviews the document and signs it.
- You get the finished, signed copy to download, with a timestamp for each step.
- Every sent document has an audit trail, and sign-ins and important changes are recorded in an audit log that administrators can view and export.
- Every page uses HTTPS, each organization's documents are kept separate from every other organization, and SSN fields are encrypted when stored.
Questions, answered.
Why compare by cost per envelope?
Because most per-seat plans cap yearly envelopes per user. A low seat price can hide a high cost per envelope, and a higher seat price with a larger allowance can cost far less at volume.
Why is EaseSignature lower per envelope?
Business has unlimited envelopes, where leading per-seat plans cover about 100 to 150 per user a year. We also keep costs low by not spending heavily on advertising or a large commissioned sales team.
Is the listed price for monthly or annual billing?
EaseSignature prices are monthly, with no annual commitment. The other plans in the table are listed with annual billing, which is often how their lowest price is quoted.
How accurate are the other plans' prices?
They are published list prices from leading providers, gathered in July and August 2026, and vendors change plans often. Confirm current pricing and limits with any provider before you decide.
How do I switch to EaseSignature?
Start free, save the documents you send most as templates, and send a test document to yourself. There is nothing to migrate to try it side by side with what you use today.
Are electronic signatures legally binding?
In most cases, yes. In the United States the ESIGN Act and UETA give electronic signatures the same legal effect as handwritten ones for most documents, and the EU (eIDAS), the UK and many other countries have similar rules. Some documents, such as wills and certain legal notices, usually still need a handwritten signature. This is general information, not legal advice.
